In the latter case, the setting should be saved when you quit FG. Disabling TerraSync can be done in your launcher certainly, by passing -disable-terrasync to fgfs, or in-sim from the File dialog ("Scenery download" IIRC). If your TerraMaster download folder is elsewhere, TerraSync should not touch it. TerraSync should not write to any random folder. I have never used TerraMaster personally, but in your situation I think I would disable TerraSync to be sure a) not to waste bandwidth downloading stuff I already have and b) not to step on TerraMaster's toes. But then I don't think it is a good idea to let TerraSync muck with the directory that TerraMaster has updated. If you use TerraMaster, i think you are getting v2 scenery, which is good for you unless you are short on memory. There is old (v1) and "new" (v2) scenery, but I have never heard it called SD or HD. I have no idea where you heard about SD and HD scenery. Thanks in advance for any assistance rendered. I'd like to use the HD scenery but with TerraSync as soon as I fly out of a subtile everything grinds to a halt whilst it downloads the next section. slow broadband) user?Ĭan I put the HD terrain files in to the TerraSync folder so it doesn't need to download those parts? What is the optimum configuration for the bandwidth challenged (i.e. I've downloaded the same SD tile and it has the Objects that TerraSync has downloaded plus the low-res Terrain files. I notice that the downloaded HD scenery does not have the Objects & Terrain folders - it only appears to have the terrain. TerraSync downloads the subtiles on launch so I'm assuming it overrides my Scenery folder. On the launch app I've told it where my scenery folder is. I've ungzipped it and put it in a folder next to FlightGear called Scenery. Overnight I downloaded the HD tile for w010n50 which covers most of the UK. I live in a rural location so download speeds are slow. Trying to figure out the order of use by the various scenery components. Hi, new user on iMac i7, 24Gb, terabyte of storage, new download of 2016.1.1.
